Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi (AKA, Nairobi), an IB continuum school in Kenya, is authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate curriculum (IB) from Early Years through to Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP). With a diverse student and teaching faculty of over 1000 individuals, AKA, Nairobi, represents various nationalities.

Position Overview:

The Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi – Junior School has an opening for the role of PYP Homeroom Teacher, beginning in April 2024.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement inquiry-based learning and teaching strategies.
  • Foster a positive learning environment that motivates and challenges all learners.
  • Develop attributes of the IB Learner Profile for students to become independent, lifelong learners, and leaders.
  • Ensure student success and address individual learning needs.
  • Create an inquiry-based classroom and teach within the IB’s Primary Years Programme (PYP) philosophy.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education/Bachelor’s degree with PGCE
  • 5 years of teaching experience in an international school
  • PYP-focused professional development
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural collaborative team and environment
  • Proficiency in using technology as a teaching and learning tool
  • Teachers Service Commission (TSC) registration certificate
  • Certificate of good conduct

Additionally, experience in any of the following areas will be advantageous:

  • Sports Science
  • Performance and Visual Arts
  • Technology integration
  • Modern European languages
  • Science Technology Engineering & Mathematics (STEAM)
  • Special Education Needs
